Hi. Have done a search but couldn't find anything...

I'm going to have to drain my fuel tank tomorrow, and, forgive me for being dumb, but i can't drain the whole tank through the fuel filter can i?

If not, any help would be greatly appreciated as i've never drained a fuel tank before and don't really know where to start.

Thanks.

P.S. It's a TDI incase that matters...

how are you going to drain it? pump or gravity

you should be able to do it by gravity under the tank (there should be a break in the line there)

did you put unleaded in?

Gravity, i think...

I think i got some dodgy diesel from Tesco. I put £20 the other day and after a couple of minutes i could hear a weird noise coming from the filler neck. Thought it couldn't be that bad or Tesco wouldn't sell it. Then i changed my mind and sprayed some diesel on the floor and it was dirty and almost white.

Anyway, the car drove fine, my GF drove it 100 miles with no problems. But when i went to start it today it wouldn't fire up. It turns over but won't start. I tried jumping it but couldn't get it to start. I think it's clogged the fuel filter or something because no fuel is coming through the injector.

I'll have a go at it tomorrow and let you know. Cheers for the help.

P.S. s**t, i've just noticed that i've put this in the Ibiza section out of habbit. It's actually my Toledo that's playing up, but they use the same engine so... (MODS - Is it ok to keep this here though please as it's more active than the toledo forum. Thanks.)
