As the title says, there is a drag race this sunday in our country and i am taking my ibiza cupra for a spin or better said a straight line spin :D . Just put on some new rubber (toyo r-888) and the lsd. Hope to run in the 13' sec class (with reaction time). If anyone has a good advice on weight reduction and tire pressure, adding toluene or sth. else, please jump right in with your ideas:thumbup:

Keep your fingers crossed, will post photos and videos when i come back:)

Cheers

remove spare tyre, jack, speaker shelf, rear seats, rear wiper for weight, front wipers for weight and aerodynamics, fold wing mirrors in.

Thats about it for simple stuff.

If you want to adjust the suspension then stiffen up the rear and drop teh front to help with the weight transfer on launch. Theroy is a 70/30 f/r split on weight distrubution. Reduce the front toe-in to reduce the speed scrubbed off. Other than that its just practice.

Casper: Wich size do you run on the r888´s.
Im trying to find a street slicks that will fit the ibiza on 16" wheels but the only ones I found is yokohama A048 and they are a bit to expensive.

Any advice???

I am running them in 205/40/17. It is a good tire but very noisy if you do a lot of highway driveing. If i were you i would go with yokohama parada in 16¨. Much more street friendly tyre.

you can raise a lot the rear tyre pressure since they're not the drive wheels and you don't need much grip from them in a straight line,,,
better if you put two slim tyres at the rear,,, space savers would be ok since they're inflated at something silly [4.2 bar IIRC on mine] and are very slim,,, problem is where to find another one,,,

and crossing the line at 100mph + with tyres rated to 50mph perhaps ??

i went down to elvington mate:

first run ive even did in the new car 13.6 **** start span to much then boged termal was 105mph in light rain

then before second run started to bucket down and went into 14s only did 3 runs and called it a day as alot of surface water and car was trying to go any direction but where it was pointing, so bit of a disapointment and waste of £50 quid today

cars capable of beating my last pb of 13.4 just got the get the right weather otherwise fwd cars are useless

13.6 is a good result, especially for that kind of weather. Keep up the good work and post some times in the dry :)

The times from this sunday's race are just in. I did my first 4 qualification races and then raced against a modified impreza 2,5 sti in the quarter finals. I lost that race(he went around 12,6-12,7sec). All together i am quite happy since it was my first drag race.

Second run was my best run: 13,283 (with reaction time 13,290) trap speed: 106,43 mph.

I think i could go a little better since my traction wasn't ideal. I will go to a track with better grip next time[B)]

My friend with a audi rs2 went 11,198 with trap speed 127,53:drool:
