DPF & Limp mode issues.

Hello all,

I have just taken my Leon FR into a dealer as my DPF light has been on with 2 other lighs and the car has been in limp mode.

I'm now worried that the DPF will have to be replaced.

Is this common? What sort of criteria would lead to the filter being changed rather than regenerated?

Thank,

V

Vasquez... quick response though... if you get the dpf light on and you can clear it, it will go into limp mode... at this stage if you carry on driving then you risk permanent damage... this is when they will not be able to regenerate DPF filter. Hence if you get to this stage stop and get it recovered. At least they can't say you damaged the DPF filter.

vasquez,
I am afraid this topic has already been done to death but I strongly suspect that it has a long way to run yet for owners of VAG 170 tdi engines ( and other manufacturers' vehicles with DPFs).

Search for the following threads:

Under TDI Section:

DPF problems on VAG 170 tdi engine

Under Leon Mk 2:

DPF Experiences

.......................................................................................................................

I recommend that you do not take any nonsense from the dealer/SEAT UK regarding your DPF problem and copy every single article on this site about DPFs, the AA, the Sale of Goods Act/fitness for purpose etc. etc. plus get ready to consult a solicitor. Get your retaliation in first!
The SEAT warranty has nothing to do with your additional rights regarding the purchase of the car.

Once they see the 2 inch thick file of paperwork their attitude should become more accommodating.
If not get back to this forum pronto.
Good luck.
