DPF Delete/Remap - Done!

Hello people,

Yesterday i had my FR PD170 dpf delete and remap done.

DPF Delete by Prospeed Exhausts (Cardiff)
Remap by Elite Remaps (guy called reesy on this forum)

Elite Remaps - Dave came to pick up my car from my workplace at 8:45AM,
took it to prospeed to get the dpf done, and then basically remapped it for me there and then, and delivered the car back to me later on in the day.

Power
All i can say is,the increase in torque is phenomenal with an never ending pull all the way up to 4k revs.
Although this feels good atm, theres no proof of power in terms of results yet, so i will be going to a dyno in Bridgend (Gotboost) very soon when i get the time.

MPG
Another big improvement is that the MPG has got better, driving to work i usually get an average of 40-41 MPG after i got the remap done, I managed to achieve 48-49MPG.
(This is based on 2.5k-3k revs gear change)

Throttle responce
As of all you pd170 owners which dont have a remap, you will all feel that the lower revs will lack power until the 2.5k rev range where the turbo kicks in. After a remap from Eliteremaps (Dave) the car now starts to pull from 1.5k revs and throttle responce is so more satisyfing with the extra torque, it just pulls on demand =]

Overall so far Elite Remaps by mobile installer (Dave Rees) has been a success, no dash lights, and no errors yet (fingers crossed). I am quite confident as there is a lifetime warranty on the product so if any errors occur, Dave will come to my house to fix it.

What was the DPF process carried out? Brand new pipe put in, or just cut out the DPF filter from the existing exhaust system? As this will affect the overall price, the latter being cheaper obviously.

Plus was the car remapped previously? So this was effectively a Stage 2 + disabling the dpf sensors/readings. Or a "Stage 1" + sensors?

Ultimately I will do this too at some point in the future. Very interested to learn from others who have already done it, what dpf removal method / map they went for.

no my car was standard before, and the dpf has been gutted out, so that phiscally it looks as if the dpf is still present which can be a good thing =]

As far as what method they used for dpf removal im guessing they just gut the dpf and weld it back on? and a performance map was used, apparently it achieves the results of 205-210 bhp.

Then the difference, £135 - cutting open the exhaust, removing the filter, then welding the plate back on - so your exhaust system remains unchanged, apart from losing the filter. THEY collected the car from you, did all this, then dropped it back to you, mapped plus minus the dpf filter.

Pretty good price for all that.

I have been quoted £225 but thats not including the DPF delete. Its for a 2.0 TDI (140) DSG.

Yeh £135 for gutting dpf, I had my custom exhaust done by them in the past which was why i knew they can do a good job, and alot of people can vouch for thier great service.

£300 for the map, which i think its worth it, basically because it delivers 1.Power, 2.Better MPG and 3.Hastle/Problem free =]

I'm not sure if I would rather have DPF removed and replaced with pipe so its there if you ever want it back etc.

Yeah if it was me I'would keep it safe and just add a pipe. We never know the future

Reading feedback from those who have done it already (on these forums), the price to source/fit a replacement Milltek downpipe, was more expensive than just removing the filter from the existing pipe - but granted, with the new pipe you do then have the flexibility of putting the original DPF pipe section back on, if needs be.

Eliteremap also offered a dyno before and after but only at their HQ which is in Leeds, id rather not travel that for just for a free dyno test ^^

Also not sure why you would want to replace the dpf back to standard as its not an requirement in MOT for the next few years (heard from alot of people from alot of different forums). All the dpf does is cause nothing but problems, should of seen all the gunk that came out oif mine when i had it removed ^^ apparently it was about to clog up, so lucky i had it removed before the limp mode xD

In most cases regarding DPF issues - the Temp sensor fails or it just requires a manual ReGen (if it gets clogged to a greater degree), which a SEAT dealer can do for a few pounds. Only read of 1 case, where someones DPF really packed up and they needed a new one (at £1000+).

Most get it removed from a Modding perspective, a few extra horsepower, less restrictive, plus one less thing to worry about too (due to their reputation for being problematic on the PD engine).

pd140 do not have dpf, reason pd170 needed one was to basicaly get slightly lower emissions for green!!!

so if yours is pd140, just get a standard remap no need for dpf removal =]

once you get your pd140 remaped it will have the power output of a pd170 =]
and because you dont need dpf deleted, the whole process is cheaper as you will only pay for the software (remap)

Any recomendations on software? Have the DSG gearbox if that makes a difference? So basically, I can get an extra 36-40 bhp, Lb Ft gains of at least 50 and an increase in MPG for £225. Well thats a no brainer!! I love my Leon, only had it 4 days!

Big companies would be --> S.hark Performance, Revo, APR, but i phisically couldnt be bothered to drive to them with the high prices also, so took a brave move and used Eliteremaps, and all i can say is they did a good job on my car. Everytime i boot it i get a grin on my face
