DPF Delete - MOT PASS!

Haven't been on here for a while, but when I was previously on there were a lot of questions regarding whether a DPF delete would pass the MOT test and I can confirm it will :funk:

56 Plate FR TDI with 70,000 miles on the clock (remapped since 50k) passed the soot test with flying colours (reading of zero in all 3 areas) will scan the print out when I can.

Custom Code Remap with full Milltek (turbo back) exhaust.

Hopefully this will put some minds to rest and we can get more DPF deleted motors on the road.

im considering it myself but have visions of me filling the motorway every time i put my foot down like something off james bond!!??

The loss of warranty also puts me off! Not to mention the price. Good to know it passes the MOT though.

Have you got the non-resonated box on your car?

Crofty - Visible smoke when 1st done is terrible but once settled for a few hundred miles I only notice a slight haze of smoke every once in a while when accelerating hard.

JR Smooth - Yes I have the non-resonated exhaust, which is perfectly subtle when pottering around but has a nice rasp when under load.

I can understand the warranty issue, mine was approaching end of warrantly (mileage wise) I also have a few close friend working in the VAG group that could help me out if needed.

Just remember the DPF is not covered by warranty (so I'm told) and should it became completely blocked a replacement would be £1300. The DPF delete does completely transform the car, it pulls so much hard right across the entire rev range.

dpf = Diesel Particulte Filter and deleteing it is a case of removing it, fittling a link pipe in it's place, the ECU can then be adapted to suit and an extra 50-60 horsepower is gained and the MPG is a bit better too.

Costs about £700 I think.

Gareth - Good to hear the DPF delete will pass the MOT.

I'm trying to decide between A DPF delete done at JBS or Bluefin. Obviously Bluefin provides less grunt, but can be turned an and off. DPF Delete gives more grunt, better MPG and no more DPF issues, but is more obvious as a mod.

The 2 big questions you may be able to help with are - is it driveable with such power and torque in the wet or is it a contant flash from the traction control light

Also having spoken to James at JBS he is insistant that the OE clutch will be fine as the re mapping doesn't provide a big and sudden rush of torque. Has your clutch slipped after the DPF was removed?

Alright mate sorry for jumping on this thread, but i have had my car dpf deleted in the last month and done 1000+ miles on it with no issues, it is smooth, but when you hit 2k no matter how far your foot is down, the car will want to pull you! In this weather as long as you drive carefully you shouldnt have an issue in the wet but if you plant it in 1st,2nd,3rd,4th in these conditions, you will spin. If you want something to give you a bit more poke, and be easily reversable then bluefin,revo with there switch options are good. Oh nd btw guys i got the car rolling roaded at the same place as ive had all my cars done. My bro and i, him with a fiesta st and myself with the leon fr tdi.

STANDARD
leon= 167.8bhp and 261 ft lbs of torque
fiesta= 147.2bhp and 133.1 ft lbs of torque

ANGEL TUNING REMAP (LEON ONLY)
206.1bhp and 321.0 ftlbs of torque

Custom Code DPF delete stage 2(LEON) + Montune tuning package + ford racing cams,BMC air filter (FIESTA)
leon= 240.4bhp and 344.1 ft lbs of torque
fiesta= 192.5bhp and 206.8ft lbs of torque

So there is serious gains to make on the leon, a bluefint map will see you about 195bhp, a revo 200-210 bhp:)

nice figures on the leon, thinking of getting this done when my car is out of warranty in a year! have people had many problems getting the dpf deleted cause i havent heard of many!

I have had my share of problems mate, the sensors on the down pipe go very easily, and there £110 each i've had to replace 2 so far!!!!!!! But its a catch 22 on getting the car put back to standard to take it into warranty, because my nearest CC (110 mile round trip) quote 3 hrs labour for taking off and 3 for putting back on (for the exhaust that is) the map is free off and on. And labour charge is £55 an hour so 55 x 6= £330!!!!
The two sensors were £218 for me and i have had them fitted by a mate for £30.
But it all adds up. Weigh up the pros and the cons.
As i posted on another link the power in the car is truly immense!! Add on a 45-50mpg!!!!
But again it's a pricey mod and there are a few problems.

Oh and on another note, i recently realised this week that a dpf delete leon, can easily hold its own against the leon cupra FL. 59 plate, West Kilbride, White

wat other mods have u got done with ur dpf delete? n are they all necessary? jus tryin to find out as much info as i can before i make up my mind dont want to jump into anythin and then mess up my car! cheers

Ive got a green cotton panel filter mate and thats it, your standard internals should be fine, but the sensors are a bit of a pain, some of the other guys have also had mapping issues, with dash warnings staying on

Have you had any of these Sensor problems that others have had?

ive got K&N Filter already , So DE-DPF is 2nd on me List after Suspension :D

Engine internals are good for 300bhp. I'm getting the de-dpf done to my car this year. already have a K&N panel, but tempted at an enclosed induction kit. Will also get a non-resonated zorst when i come to get it done, to give it a better exhaust note.

Sorry for slow response, not been on here for a while.

Lower gears (1st & 2nd) do suffer loss of traction very easily in the damp / wet, it's not too bad in the dry and you do get used to short shifting & regulating throttle to get moving. I will be fitting the Whiteline Anti Lift Kit soon and will be getting a diff fitted in the summer which should help traction.

There is absolutely no clutch slip at all, OEM clutch and flywheel should cope with DPF delete, but this will depend on the condition of these parts and your driving style.

I have had to replace the Temp Sensor only once, shop around for these as I paid £73.00 for mine from Audi (have a frined who works there). So expect to pay £80ish. But i hear people are being quoted over £100. Also these do get quite sooty so it may be worth giving it a genty clean (blast of compressed air) before changing as the 1st few hundred miles after getting the work done seems to be the sootiest.

Plans for 2010 are WALK, Anti Roll Bars, S3 intercooler, Diff, Coilovers, big brakes and finally hybrid turbo...

Am trying to get a video/sound clip of the exhaust but finding a suitable bit of road is a bit difficult at the moment.

having to replace a sensor isnt that big tho. ive had to replace one in the exhaust with the car as standard. obviously it was done under warranty but the mechanic told me the sensors are very tempermental on some of the cars! i do realise that when i get the dpf delete done itll come out of own pocket tho

It's not that tho, it seems to be that after the delete the sensor(s) are more supceptable to go, and there are quite a few of them. It's your luck i guess, and i went for it. It is an amazing power mod, for the car. Need to decide what handling mods i should get now, thinking eibach pro or sport lines.

yea i get what you are saying about the sensors. Ive jus ordered a set of eibach sportlines heard really good things about them and give the car a good stance and alot of people have opted to use them. wel you dont regret gettin the dpf deleted and thats the main thing hope i get lucky with it :D
