Hi, I'm in the process of asking a 3D printing company if a double din facia from the Leon mk1 could be Scanned, copied and printed as buying these from dealers are silly money! I've already asked for a price per unit, time and if volume will reduce overall cost. Obviously this is new technology to many of us so please understand that this may not be available, please put your interest in and I'll be contacting them Monday, Regrards, Liam.

Are you talking about a facia only or having the center console (back bone) made as well? (Center console is actually the expensive one...

Hi Frixosleon, I'm looking on printing both internals and facia. Atm I'm really just looking into the possibility of this, contacting a London based company on just what's involved.
No I don't have either of the units to hand but hoping this company would copy from a 3d image, I know it all sounds mad but I'm so very interested in if this could be done, I'll keep all posted :)

Just an update, I'll be receiving a quote today, also I've connected SEAT on copyright law, awaiting reply.

Hi Liam, it is possible to do what you have described but the cost may be prohibitive for it to be a viable option and you would need to bear in mind 3D printed models are just that, models aren't designed as replacements for manufactured parts. You may be able to use a 3D Printed model for your application and we would be happy to print one for you, but please note we can't be held responsible if a 3D Printed model is used inappropriately, this you will need to agree with Seat yourself showing us a certificate of copyright.

If you would like to email a picture over I could get you a quote for scanning it although you would possibly need copy right authorisation from Seat before we start printing. Thank you, Liam.

Its a little odd that a thread got shut down this week for someone wanting to copy mapping software, loads of people posted abuse about stealing.

Now someone wants to copy a physical part and everyone's on board!
