Door opens on second attempt

Hi All hope you may be able to shed a little light on this one?

My drivers door unlocks when I remove the keys but when I pull the handle it only opens half an inch or so (like when you don't shut a door hard enough and it locks but rattles and won't open or shut). When I let go of the handle and pull it again it opens the rest of the way every time.

It also does the same when you unlock it from the outside, opens a little then all the way when handle is pulled for the second time.

I'm pretty sure it only does this after being locked and doesn't do it everytime but it appears to be happening more often.

Is it a something easy like a stretched cable or some lube needed or am I gonna be shelling out for a new lock

could be the cable, they are £5 ish not too difficult to fit either. sounds like its not unlucking it properly could happen if the cable frays, mine snapped a few months ago.

Haven't had a chance yet but will do ASAP. Just wanted an idea of how much to brace my wallet for!!

I had a new drivers side door lock fitted by a dealer a few months back. It was about £85 ex VAT for the lock itself and £150 all in fitted. My problem was the lights on buzzer had stopped working and the alarm kept going off when the door was open with keys out of the ignition.

Bizarrely it appears to be working perfectly now although I fear it's a matter of time before it packs up and i'm clambering out through the passenger door!!

Anyone got any suggests to this miraculous fix? Might it have just been sticking for a fortnight or is it still probably on borrowed time?

p.s. still haven't got round to taking door card off as it started working again
