Door moved

Hello again!

I have had my Ibiza now for a couple of weeks and am absolutely loving it. A few rattles and a bit of wind noise but is has done 50K so not at all bad.

One problem I think i hae noticed is that the driver door does not come in as close to the dahsboard as it did when i got the car. There is about a 15mm gap whereas I am pretty sure before that there was only a few mm, as there is on the passenger side? From the outside the door sits level with the car (as far as i can see) so I am begging to doubt my own mind

So I was just wondering if this had happened to anyone else before I ring up the dealer (I have a year warrenty on it as it was an approved 2nd hand car) and make a right pillock of myself....

I did a search and read through the 500 odd messages with door in but I may have missed something :)

Thanks,

Matt

If it lines up properly on the outside then its right. There's no point adjusting it to close in further as then the door will look wrong from the outside.

As fa as I can remember there was a gap between the dash and door on my Ibiza

Thanks for the replies. The movement is too much for expansion/contraction :) , although the door panel was loose when i got the car and I have recently replaced the clips and clipped it back so this might be why the gap looks bigger now.

My worry was that if it had moved it was indicating that something had slipped, so it might be better to get it fixed now rather than latter, but I guess i should just keep an eye on it and if it moves more get it done then?

The wind noise seems as if it is coming from the back of the door (neer the opening) rather than the front but it is quite hard to tell when driving so i will have a look at that cover. I have also noticed a rattlng form somewhere below the dash to the right - might be from the door but i don't think so. I can only here it with the stereo off so not too bothered...although now i know its there....:)

Thanks,

Matt

doesnt need aligning if the rubber sits snug and evenly across the top edge and is in line with the wing and the 1/4 pannel if you do adjust it in toi get the gap inside smaller you will ruin the gaps and it will be harder to close! wind noise is normally caused by the rubbers of the window frame make sure all is on OK!

Thanks again for the advice.

I will try the door thing tomorrow.

Since i noticed the broken clips on the door (someone had obviously had them off before) I am paranoid about trying to remove the door without breaking them, but i can give it a go and always get some more if it breaks.

If i do need to move the door closer because the seal isn't tight (as in post 21)is this a dealer job or can i do it myself?

Thanks,

Matt
