Does the ABF have any kind of traction control or ESP?

Hi guys,

Been messing around in the snow, like you do, in my ibiza 2.0 16v abf and when i got stuck a couple of times my car started developing a nasty grinding noise coming from the dashboard when I tried to get going again, the wheels weren't spinning when this noise was present and the lads I was with said it could be traction control kicking in but I thought they never had anything like that? Anyway I gave the fun a rest as I didnt want to break my baby. Could anyone out there shed any light on the subject?

Cheers

Dave

yes abfs have ELD (electronic locking differentail)

basicly part of the ABS system, works by the abs pump activating and applying the brake to to wheel that is spinning effectivly distributing tourque back though the diff to the stantionary wheel.

is a primative form of traction control and yes present itself with a lovely grinding noise!

seems to only work at low speeds.

EDL is not Traction Control.

Stops working at 15mph, and requires a steering angle.

It's crap & doesn't work

EDL stops functioning at 25 mph and doesnt require a steering angle either.

It is kinda crap but try pulling the ABF fuse and see how much worse it is without when trying to pull out of snow. Had it running plenty over the last week... Wish I could stick a Quaiffe in!
