Does N75 have any effect on emissions?

I'm getting a bit desperate here folks, as I don't have an MOT pass and my tax is due end of this month.
Basically the dealer diagnosed a fault with the N75 valve. I've now obtained a new N75, thanks to a local VAG parts specialist. Question is, do you reckon this will cure the emissions problem? In the event that it doesn't (I'll find out on Monday) what else can I try to fix the problem? It failed because the lambda reading was too high.
I have 0 confidence that the dealer knows what they are doing. The car is going into a small garage Monday to replace other mechanical items, but he's not a VW specialist. There was an advisory note on the MOT about the exhaust box rattling, which is going to be replaced.

Any suggestions/advice much appreciated.

Yes. N75 can be linked to over-fueling, therefore causing emissions issues.

I'd say N75 could be responsible for an emissions fail.

An update on this. I took my car to a small garage to do the work needed to get it through the MOT. The replacement N75 has fixed the emissions problem. The mechanic had some comments to make on the work recommended by the dealer - he said the brake pads did NOT need replacing, and also the exhaust box did NOT need replacing either. Just goes to underline the fact that some dealers are out to screw you for as much as possible.

Also had some things to say about my MOT test failure items. It failed on the inner CV joint, which apparently should not even cause a failure - they should only look at the outer CV joint.
As for the emissions, it originally failed on the lambda reading, but he said the emissions actually failed on the CO when he tested it.
Anyway I won't be going back to that MOT station again.

I'm really annoyed about the dealer situation, as they were wanting £950 to fix these MOT 'problems', which is scandalous considering half the work didn't even need doing. [:@]
