I know this is an old thread but, as none has replied, i thought I'd pitch in.
Of course it's difficult to be sure from just an image, like here, but the strut towers - the metal yellow bit which the black bit is sticking up out of - doesn't look damaged to me? My guess would be that the strut top mounts have not been changed and are now Kaput! - delaminated I'd guess. The top mounts shouldn't be too difficult to find at most motor factors I'd guess but it will mean completely dismantling the assembly again to change them and that includes compressing the very strong suspension spring - which is not a task to be undertaken lightly.
