I have been a big fan of DJ products for a while so I thought with the new car arriving I would get some of this new DJ glass sealant.
I would have taken pics but because the process is one you can't really stop doing mid way through it was a bit difficult
First Impressions:
Opening the pack you get a small lint-free cloth, a small bottle and a double sided A4 sheet of instructions.
The instructions detail how prep is key (As with all car detailing) and advises an intensive glass clean of before application of the product.
Even though the glass was pretty much brand new I still followed every step (Pressure Wash, Neat APC, Clay, Wash, Clearly Menthol Glass Cleaner)
I applied it very carefully and followed the instructions to the letter.
I did every window.
The glass looked great after.
It sat all day and night in the dry and had its full cure in the try (Karma must have been on my side as the instructions are so anal about moisture damaging the coat 'dont do it at dawn or dusk because of condensation').
The test came two day later in some light ran. The rain on the windscreen kind of splatted and looked almost like when snow hits your windscreen and then melts but then just seems to sit on the windscreen, at 70mph bigger droplets start to roll off. The side windows the water just doesnt seem to stick and stay really clear. The back windscreen seems to almost look frosted and no water clears on its own. Wiper blades are no smoother than when new on a normal clean window.
The next day drove in some really heavy showers on the motorway, was no more impressed than the light rain. some of the water rolls off the windscreen but in no way makes the wipers redundant. The side windows again stayed clear. The back window was the same again, no clearing of itself, had to use the wiper for a clear view.
All in all this stuff looks like Rain-X, smells like Rain-X, Feels like Rain-X, is applied (more or less but with a far more anal prep stage) like Rain-X , Is more expensive than Rain-X but does not work as well as Rain-X.
This is all written purely in my opinion, others may get different results but I have always used Rain-X before this and will go straight back to using it too. I used the treatment on a New Seat Leon FR with only 800 miles on the clock (So barely any wear-and tear on the glass or wipers). Maybe the areodynamics of my car just aren't suited to this product, perhaps a steeper windscreen and a more slanted back window would work better......
