Dodgy boot lock

My boot doesn’t latch properly unless I slam it hard. It’ll latch slightly ajar without slamming it, but it’s not closed correctly, and throws a warning on the dash that boots open. Any suggestions?

Assume you've tried the usual, cleaning it out, applying spray lubricant/grease to the lock mechanism?

I’ve cleaned and WD-40-ed the handle’s and the latch’s moving parts, and the same with the hook on the latch plate at the bottom. I did also have the Vaseline at the ready, but the above did the trick. I’ll step up the treatment if/when the need arises. The handle was sticking open, hence why I cleaned that too. Probably just dirty, the handle and the latch, and needed a thorough clean. The latch slip plate are original (113k miles and 9 years old) but the boot handle I replaced about a year ago. Very common issue, sticky boot handles.
