Hi all, so I've decided I'd like to replace the badge strips on the back of the car. They're kind of funny and looks as though there's trapped air/water or something in them.

You can see what I mean there.

Where could I get replacements for these? They don't have to say CL on.

Or is there any way of fixing this? I've been told to just take them off and spray them over with black hammerite if I also kind of wanted to debadge it.

And I realise "badge strips" probably isn't the correct lingo for them. But it's the best way of describing them I can think of!

Cheers :)

Just remove the strips completely, that's what I did on my old Ibiza. You might need to use some white spirit to get rid of the remains of the sticky tape.

That actually looks nice without it! I was worried about removing them incase underneath was tacky rough cut plastic or something.. Shall do it tomorrow and report back on how it goes. Cheers

Hi so I've taken the strips off and they came off no problems. I went over where they were with some alcohol and now the plastic has gone.. grey! I've tried washing it off with water and rubbing it off but it just appears gray again as soon as it dries.

Any idea?

All you need to do is go to your local Halfords or a Motor shop, and get some "back to black" or "trim renovator". For the time being, even black shoe polish should do the trick. BTW what alcohol did you use?? Must have been something really strong like Absinth or something mad like that, lol.

Nahh mate, a glass of JD ;)

lol just pure alcohol. Unfortunately undrinkable!

My Dad gave me some wipes for black plastic/interior, etc. which have back to black in them. Just wiped over it every 5 minutes for about 30 mins and it's great now!

Just gave the car a full mur polish. Shiny! :D It's the first time it's been properly cleaned since I've had it (I know, I know..) and it looks fantastic! Just need to get the rust in the sills and the rust spot on the roof sorted!
