Just wondering why people hate/love the soundaktor ...

Maybe because my car is still new, but I like it, it makes a V8 grunt :)

It's better in sport mode, in cupra it's too much

personally I hate it, first thing I removed when I got OBD11, Much prefer engine and exhaust noise to soundaktor but there is no right or wrong answer its personal preference and also your age / hearing (Yanni vs Laurel)

Sport Mode is good, but it’s just ridiculous in Cupra mode. I’ve turned it down to 80% but plan on reducing it further today after the exhaust is fitted :)

I wasn't a fan... in my car it would make the top of the dashboard vibrate so it was really annoying. I turned it off with Carista. Now I can here the DSG pops and the induction which I prefer. Would it have been more tolerable if the dash didn't vibrate the way it did? maybe

Some of my mates liked the sound, the wife didn't... and she is the boss

In my Cupra, the first thing I done was to disconnect it, far too loud. In the wifes FR it's not so loud and she doesn't mind it so it stays. lol

'Do you love or hate the soundaktor?'

Short answer - hate !
My Cupra sounded like there was no air filter in in Cupra mode
Hence I turned it down to 0% via the Carista app

Hated.
Didn't have any way of turning it down or off, so just physically disconnected it.
Prefer the natural sound of the engine and exhaust.

hate. I have a diesel, it is not meant to sound that way. Turned down to 0% within a week of picking it up

Personally bloody love it! Sounds like a race car and I just love to accelerate and hear that noise! Of course if it starts to grate on me i just change the driver mode so it is quieter!

Same same, only have the motor 2 weeks and only use Cupra mode when I fancy a country road blast, and I think it’s fantastic fun, most of the time I’m in comfort mode, as traffic jams dictates speed, have carista orderedso can always change the level if I get sick of it

I love it, but understand why some would want it off or less loud. As mine is a lease, I'm not comfortable with tweaking the factory settings.

I think the engine is too refined in terms of NVH and without the speaker it would feel lifeless. So I think VW/Seat made the right choice, but could have the option for on/off.

Mine was vibrating a little also (yes, another rattle!), but it turned out it was the casing under the rear view mirror (the bit that attaches onto the windscreen) - when it vibrates, just giving it a little press seems to stop the sound entirely!

I've only had my car little over a month, don't really mind the soundaktor all that much tbh. Is the sound of the engine / exhaust from outside the car unchanged regardless of mode and it's all fakery no matter the mode selected?

Its all fakery from the sound actuator. The different modes will change the dynamics of the car in terms of throttle response etc but as for sound it stays the same

Absolutely hate the fake noise/vibration. Disconnected it on both a Cupra and an FR. Nevertheless, there should be an button to make it easier.to switch it on or off.

This isn't true, different modes make the soundaktor louder or quieter, not the same sound at all.
Its actually a small electric motor that vibrates against the firewall, so its not even a real induction sound

Me personally, was the first thing I disconnected!

For the sake of argument, what I meant by sound is the same is that the exhaust doesn't have valves etc so it's not like pushing the loud button on a Jag F-Type V8.
