DIY exhaust fitting - yes or no ?

I'm looking at replacing the back box on my standard exhaust myself with a new one I've acquired, but reading a few posts on here it sounds as if it could be a real pain in the bum to do. Original one piece exhaust is on so pipe needs cutting to remove back box and then sleeve fitting on replacement.

Anyone managed this with just axle stands or is it a pit or lift job ? Don't want to have to loosen anything wrt the rear beam to get pipe in/out. Most problems mentioned relate to fitting aftermarket exhaust with larger bore pipe but can I expect same problems ?

Worth a try or best left to garage?

Leon Cupra, std back box. I replaced exhaust on my previous car (306 Gti-6) whilst on axle stands, but that wasn't routed over the rear axle beam. I suspect you may need a fair bit of room beneath the car to twist the pipe out once cut.

Fitted the LCR blue flame on while on ramp, would not have liked to have done it on the floor.
