redstuff pads NOT greenstuff if you're going EBC. if you're not fussed about EBC then the Ferrodo DS2500 are meant to be very good.

if you want to change your brake discs to 312mm then you'll need the 312mm carriers off a VW Mk4 golf / Leon Mk1 that had 312mm brakes as standard. You then reuse your existing calipers, same size pads but 312mm discs :)

Not 100% sure without knowing what model of Leon you have and not without you having a look to see if the calipers are bolted directly to the hub or whether they're bolted to a carrier - if you have removable carriers then they can be changed :)

To buy new they're about 100 each from a dealer, about 160 on ebay or less from a scrapyard but they'll need deskanking and painting before fitting.

I recently fitted EBC Redstuff pads to my FR and they're ok - not a dramatic improvement though. Having said that, I'm on the original discs and I suspect I've warped them so looking to replace.

I usually buy my pads from Brakes 4 U and have always been pleased with their service - had to return the first set of pads due to the wrong type being sent (not their fault) and they did this quickly, and at no cost to me.

I'll be interested to read what people recommend for discs.

I would recommend watching your mate because changing pads on most cars is really easy. I used to let the dealer to do it until they helped ruin my discs... they didn't clean the corrosion off the slideways that the pads slide on and so the first application of the brake meant the pads stayed in contact with the discs. Ever since then I've always taken care of my own brakes. At least you can spend the time to remove any corrosion and apply copperslip the pistons etc.

I'm sure my bad experience was an isolated case with one bad dealer (Citroen) but I feel more confident when I know the job has been done carefully.

Good luck !
