Car Length In Front
hello :) i Have Cupra300 2018 :) Ihave VC 5F0 920 790 :) Can I make SW update to show 4th SPORT view? Or I must change VC for 5F0 920 790B ?
Can't update it with software. You'll have to change the unit to an A Variant (B variant is for later cars)

EDIT: I see Kieran's already replied my bad.

You'll have an optical cable already with the current VC you have.

I'm about to replace it without a workshop;)
Could you finish it meanwhile?

To my knowledge, the established procedure for DIY is to buy Poldiag/Xhorse/... or some other tool to transfer current cluster data to VC. This includes IMMO/CP data as well as setting correct KM values on "new" cluster. Usually a used VC straight from ebay etc. is used for this procedure.

Things to look up on the internet for the curious: MQB48, NEC35XX (locked/encrypted).

Depending on the tool and the amount of money one wants to invest a solder free "adapter" might be used or some soldering might be required to perform this procedure.

I'm currently wondering one thing for my MY18 ateca though - I would expect I need 5F0920790A and not 5F0920790B because of IMMO. But there are only Leon dashes available for either 5F0920790 or 5F0920790A. Would it be a problem in regard to adaptions, meaning features like ACC/Lane Assist/... if I just clone my IMMO/CP data to such a used Leon cluster from my current one?

I would like to use 5F0920790A dash because of the MOST connector (I have MIB 2.5 with MOST output) for showing cards as well as the fourth additional screen that came with the A release of the dash.

Does someone know if I could simply do this as intended on my Ateca with a used Leon cluster?

By the way, completely new dash with number 5F0920790A is 850€ incl. tax at my dealers here in Austria.

Obviously, the second DIY approach is to buy new cluster from the dealer or similar and use online geko service of your choice to do cp/immo adaption with odis online. Can adjust km easily anyway as long as you stay below 100km. Be sure to code/adapt everything else before raising km to correct new value in such a case.

Usually one hour geko access costs 30€. With cluster at 850€ and other components required (plastic bezel, view button, maybe MOST cable, ...) it should be doable for around 1.000€ in a diy way.

You need index A. I drive an Ateca speedometer in my Leon. It doesn't matter at all. As for converting it myself, the last missing part should arrive this week. The first VC conversion cost me less than €500.

very interesting.

which part number you used? Because as far as I saw the 5F0920790A was never put in a Ateca?

The VC without MOST input and therefore maps on the VC was but its 5F0920320. Those are very cheap to get on eBay as well, quite good looking ones for 100-200€ sometimes.

May I ask - which tool did you use to clone immo/cp/... data and would you sell it after you completed your VC conversion?

I installed the following hardware: 5F0920790A. It was from a vehicle that had been in a wreck. I didn't have any Immo tools for the first VC conversion, so officially

mhm so this was likely before vw introduced approval process for removing cp on used clusters when going the offical route through odis.

I'm surprised though that the part number you mentioned should be from a Ateca. Maybe they confused that while labeling it when pulling it out of the car. There are zero clusters on ebay or anywhere else with this number from Ateca wrecks, only Leon.

I will likely get Xhorse key tool plus for doing the transfer job on this cluster swap, would be great to hear some confirmation that it will work for what would be required.

No, the new procedure was already active. It was an Ateca, and the speedometer was coded that way, too.

So the dealer submitted the request for approval in that case and it got approved?

Its possible as well to lift CP that way + learning keys again and use such a cluster but there is no way for km correction in that scenario and one has to find a dealer who a) even does this, b) for a reasonable price. pretty hard combination here where I live...

However, Jay is the one who handles the application in the managed function of Odis itself. So, the new used VC must already be installed in the vehicle. Then submit the application; a response takes 1-3 business days. ...the thing about correcting the mileage isn't quite right. ...Which part of Austria are you from?

Yes, thats how I know it as well.
Vienna region.
Mileage can be adjusted upwards on the bench through simulation of "driving" but beside modifying data on chip directly thats the only method I know of.
