Diesel Oil changing

Anyone got any tips or advice on changing the oil in the 1.4 tdi? Is it as straight forward as a normal petrol car?

yup just the same, drop the sump plug and drain then refill. will be dirty again after a spin round the block though so dont worry.

least theres no spark plugs to change.

Can anyone tell me where the oil filter is please? I've got a plastic and paper filter instead of the normal metal one!?

um not sure on the 1.4, take the engine cover off and look for a round black cap with a socket type lump on top, this unscrews and the filter goes in there.

Yup, thats right sits at front of the engine in the middle. Sometimes they are really tight to undo so be careful (them being plastic). Make sure you have the correct socket to fit. Also, take out the filter and change it with the sump bung still open. Its suprising how much extra oil comes out of the filter housing sometimes. When you put the cap back on change the rubber seal and smear a bit of oil round it, this will make it so much easier to get off next time.

The only pain being that huge engine cover underneath the engine bay!
