Detailing products - Pure Definition

Hello everyone

First time posting in detailing section and I'm looking for some good advice. I'm looking at buying a home detailing kit. I need wash and wax and can spend upto £100. I do not have a snow lance.

Has anyone used Pure Definition before they seem to have a great kit at a great price.

I’ve never used that kit or come across it before, but it does seem very good value for the quantity you get!

I personally use products by Wax & Away. https://www.waxandaway.co.uk

I’ve seen their lab setup and the products they’ve tested against compared to theirs and it was awesome. If you message them (probably best through Facebook Messenger or Instagram) and let them know what you’re after, I’m sure they could build a package bundle for you.

@Legojon, @Jimbobcook and @Sharpy are a few who can help here. Between them they must spend £1000’s on Detailing products and they use them to good effect as all their cars look great.

No apologies needed.

As with @paddy6789 I haven’t checked the items you’ve looked at and agree with what he says. Decide what you need to do and build up your own kit. That way you’re not stuck with one companies products and you can get the best products out there without having to take products you might not want or need.

I’ve not used the pure definition stuff, but the reviews seem reasonable. If I had £100 to spend on a detailing kit (and I do) I’d get this

It’s not something I’ve used but, I’ve ordered the kit based on results I’ve and they are good. I’ll probably post a review on here once I’ve given it a go.

Alternatively I’d look at obsession wax, currently my go to for all my detailing needs, I’ve not had much better than their stuff. They don’t do a kit but if you get in touch they’re more than happy to help out.

It depends how much you want to get into detailing as to which way to go. There’s some really good stuff out there for basic maintenance... once you get into finer detail cleaning and machine polishing having more specialist stuff helps.

It’s defo a can of worms! And the folk here are very helpful but are also good at spending your money for you!

I think that you’re best trying different products across different manufacturers - I used to like Meguiars, then found Auto Finesse was better for the polish products, but then Autoglym had better repair/restore products - but these are products only found in Halfords haha.

If you start looking online, it’s a minefield!

My recommendations would be buy a mixture of brands that are rated, at prices that make up your budget. A particular brand won’t excel in all areas. For instance I use PoorBoys glaze and wax but Auto Finesse polish and Chemical Guys snow foam.

You’ll also find some major brands on car parts websites that have DFS style sales so can easily make a collection less than a ton!

Polish
Wax
Quick detailer for topping up after maintenance washes.

2 buckets
Wool mit
Decent frying towel

Go from there.

If I had a £100 to spend. I'd get a nilfisk when it's on special at Amazon. My brother's was £50. Get an autobrite snowfoam Lance. And a bottle of snow foam. I realise it's not really what you asked. But it'll save a lot of hard work washing and a lot of scratches.

Failing that I'd buy separately. Megs nxt is good and available at Halfords. Wax I'd get collonite 925 for £20 or kiwami for about £25.

They are a bit intimidating. Mine sat in a box for nearly 18 months. But now I wouldn't be with out one. It's evidenced by the fact I used two buckets/wash mitt and had to change the water at least once through a car wash because it was filthy!! But now, by the end of the car washing, my buckets are both clear (thanks to the snow foam pre wash). So it's definately making my paintwork happy. I have the C110. Love it! My brother has the C120 (but only because it was better than half price at the time). Keeping in mind the only downer is you have to buy the auto nozzle seperately which reduces the power of the spray anyways.

I got a c120.7 a few months back after my Karcher died. The .7 is the number of accessories it come with.

I went for the Nilfisk as it has a metal pump and the Karchers at the same price point have plastic pumps so in theory the Nilfisks should be more rebust and it was the plastic pump that was the downfall of my old Karcher. The C120 has more power than my old Karcher and i couldnt be happier.

The C120 has a little more flow rate than the c110 but the main reason i went for the c120 was you can run it from a water butt and im told the c110 can not do this, this was important to me as our house water pressure can not keep up with the flow rate of most modern pressure washers.

My c120 has had some real hammer over the last few months garden and car cleaning and its never missed a beat, over the bank holiday weekend ive stripped a motor bike for the frame and a few other parts to have them plastic coated and Monday it was running for almost 3 hours solid de greasing all the parts.

Could be more chuffed with it.

I know it says car cleaning kit. But I don't see the car nozzle in the description or in the pictures. And the last thing you'd want to do is use the tornado nozzle on your paintwork.
