Hi, I have just found out from my dealer that my Ibiza SC 1.6 DSG is being built in week 26 (w/e 28 June)
My dealer is positive I wont get the car until mid September, due to the August factory shutdown. Does this
sound realistic? I would have thought that once the car is built, and put in a compound at the factory ready for
shipment, that the factory shutdown would not affect its delivery to me sometime in August?

Any thoughts guys?

they'll shhip cars over by the container load so you'd have to wait for the container to be full before yours gets sent.. so if the rest of the cars on your shipment aren't getting sent til after the shutdown....

We tried to buy a 1.9tdi Sc today from the most unhelpfull dealers I've ever come across in Coventry!!! (Listers)

We loved the test drive in the 5 door 1.9 but it took us 2 hours to find out that they no longer make the 1.9 and only very limited stocks remain.

We then found out about the new 1.6Tdi. However as we were (still) trying to buy one the salesmane received an memo stating that at the moment Seat are delaying the production of the 1.6Tdi with no reason given.

This gives us a huge problem as we'd be utilising the scrappage scheme and the dealer couldn't gaurantee we'd recieve the car within 16 weeks which nul's the deal!

I'd expect that kind of delivery from Aston Martin, not Seat!!!

So as it stands Seat dont have a Tdi in the Ibiza range, you can order one, but one dealer told us one of his orders had been put back to week 47!!!!!

Really really disapointed!!!

Don't give up mate!:headhurt:

Sounds almost identical to what happened to me,at the same stealer! I spent weeks getting nowhere trying to order a 1.6TDI under the scrappage, only to reach the same place as you[:@].
I eventually managed to get a 1.9TDI from Irfan @seatcarsdirect aka A1autos, give them a call they sorted me out a car to my spec in 10 mins:D.

Good luck:)

Cheers for the info mate. I'll give them a bell tomorrow morning.

Will be having a spin in a 1.6 petrol tomorrow as they seem to be more readily available.

The only thing I was dissapointed with, with the 1.9 was the low speed engine noise. We have the same PD engine in our Leon (130) but it's much quieter, probably more sound dampening.

How you finding the 1.9?

I'm loving it[B)], yes Quite a noisy car but i can put up with that due to the improved mpg.
I think you will be dissapointed with the torque of the petrol, but it horses for courses:think:.
The ride is very firm on 17" wheels, but it has more grip than i'm able (insert brave enoungh!) to use:whistle:!

Good luck!

Ah, that's not good to hear - my order was the 1.9tdi, I had heard they are changing it to a 1.6tdi version, but not been told of any furhter delay. If it turns out it's moved to week 47 or something I think I may cancel as I need the car for work! We'll see, think I'll try to get some more info this week. Thanks for your update

Well it took Chris at A1 Auto's (seat cars direct) about 20 mins to source a 1.9Tdi. Something that Listers in Cov seemed unwilling to do.

As it turns out John at the dealer in Acox Green B'ham also had one in stock with a few extras but he cut an irresistable deal, so all being well we should have it by early next week.

Listers in Cov told me that with the scrappage scheme, Seat were in fact making a loss on the Ibiza! This was after they bragged that their top 2 sales guys had been sent on holiday by Seat for making them so much money, brilliant!!!

We did try the 1.6 (although oders for that are lengthy too) and you're right, it really was flat, and not much quieter than the Tdi when pushed.

We have the trusty 1.9PD in our Mk1 Leon and it's been faultless for 6 years now so we'll put up with the low speed noise.

Mine was built in week 8 (week beginning 23rd Feb) and I took delivery on 21st April. The delay was caused by waiting for shipment from Barcelona. From what I can gather because of the recession and less cars being shipped, the shipping company have laid up some of their ships so there are less frequent sailings. So between 7 and 8 weeks for delivery.

That takes quite a while eh. I am hoping that in the build up to the September registration change in the UK, that a few more ships maybe be running. I live in hope eh. Ian :p

Magico Black (metalic black), dark rear windows, cruise control and 17 inch rims. The only bit we're paying for is the paint!!!!

The Mrs is very happy, or at least she will be when we pick it up.:funk:

I saw a SC in black yesterday,it looked great:D.

The cruise control is an excellent extra, i use mine all the time.
The wheels look the dogs b*ll*x[B)]!
Sound like you got a great deal,it's amazing that some stealers don't seem to want your money(listers)[:@]. I thought buying a new car would be fun,i found it stressful dealing with people who were not interested in helping, their loss eh!:bleh:

Enjoy
