Hey guys,
Ihave just been to look at a red mint 54reg leon tdi 150 cupra,38k .fsh, last serviced @35k. the car is absolutley mint and interior is perfect too, the dealer wants £7995 (havent negotiated yet!)i like the sound of good mpg and cheap tax. i was originally lokking for a LC 1.8T but the Tdi is is the same price band as a LCR,
so basically my questions are
  • does the price of the TDi sound right?
  • should i forget about economy and get a LCR
thanks in advance
jake

if you want a fun ride the its going to have to be a lc or lcr. there are a few members who have bought the tdi and spent £1000s on them, and they say you just cant beat a petrol engine for fun. the trouble with the tdi is, they rev out so quick so the thrill factor is over quite quickly. were as the lcr for example will have a grin on your face up to 6.5k rpm. so to sum it up if u want fun id go lcr and if you want economy the the tdi it is.
this might help, think of the sound of the tdi when on tick over at the traffic lights, if you were not looking at the car u could think it was a transit van lol

on the toher hand, as diesels have plenty of torque they can run taller gears... so while they dont rev as high they can potentially be misleadingly quick.

But i do accept that the petrol will ultimately be quicker the diesel will be more than fine in 95% of situations unless you plan on ragging it everywhere.
