you talking about smashing the inside of the cat out...?

it can be done but ive been told doesnt sound very nice and will need to get another cat for the mot still.

dont see the point may aswell just get a pipe made up and put a flange on each side so you can just swap when need be...

Just buy a Milltek or a Bueflame one bud or keep your eye out in the "For Sale" area for a second hand one. Dont think knocking the cat out of your standard downpipe is going to help it flow better really, as you need at least a 2.5" or a 3" as the downpipe is the main culprit/bottleneck for restricting flow.

dai you still make me smile :)

a guy posted the exact same thread last week, and I told him no point. as the bend in the oem downpipe is too narrow to give gains, even if made decat

is it not worth spending the extra for the sport/race cat. Just the fuss of having to swap it out for the oem cat for mot altho i spose its only once a year...then u have the problem of making it fit to the rest of your system again...???

Well

Yeah a 100/200 cell sport cat With Downpipe Is Around the £320ish mark..(Milltek,BF Ect)

My Leon downpipe was £110 And fitted straight on, I aint too sure if my downpipe was 3'' or 2.75 i aint sure(Never Measured it)

I have a 2.75 decat which goes in to a 2.5 milltek system and ive had the rear silencer Chopped out...And sometimes i do get (what people would say Engine Noise) through the exhaust...

But my god when its Warmed up and on Boost the noise is so F**King Nice and the pop and bang it lets off it uber loud...

Put im going to be eiher A) Gettin a 200cell race cat of the net for £100 and then get my Exhaust place to make some flanges for me to swap over...Simple..

OR

B) selling my Full system and getting a Full BF system...

Just depends if u like faffing about...

think it was the bf de-cat i see was £200 on there site but was like u said only about £320 with the cat aswell...dont think you would loose that much power from a race cat over de-cat. But whats the difference between the 100 and 200 apart from the obvious...would either still pass the mot fine...?? I just see it being more cost effective getting the cat aswell...

How easy would it be to make a 3" decat downpipe

Surely its just a case of copying the original bends and making the flanges???

And of course knowing a metal fabricator may help lol

Anyone ever tried it?

lol I know i was just wondering if anyone had tried adapting a standard downpipe/cat i.e cutting bits out and getting rid of the bottle neck

I know I should probably buy one but i'm a cheap ass lol

Sorry to hijack the thread i'll start a new one
