Searched but I cant find any answers.

As the title says really, is it worth fitting a decat pipe to my 1.4?

As mate has one on his 106 Gti and he says it makes quite a big difference. But I think it wouldnt make that much of a difference on a 1.4.

Thanks

Craig.

the honestjohn website says something about having to remove or lower the subframe on 1.4s to fit the exhaust, dont know if its rear or front subframe, but might be worth looking into it before doing any exhaust work.

And to be honest you cant get away from cc's, i would save your money and if you want more power get a gti when you have saved up.

rear subframe, if you're removing the downpipe I imagine

however, it's not worth spending 50% of the cars worth on something that will give you very little.

there's far more things that are the cause of the woeful power output of the 1.4 8v

The bit in bold is the main cause of it.

Tried arguing with my mate that it wouldnt be worth it but he wouldnt have it. would rather spend the money on something else i.e tyres for my new wheels and/or a set of coilovers.

That's probably the best way; you're not ever going to get a decent return from engine tuning, but you'll really see the benefits of improving how it stops and turns.
