Hi guys well my next planned mod is to get some kind of exhaust system fitted to the LC.

Ive been looking at the possibility of getting one of the Milltek race cats, but i suddenly started thinking (dangerous) would it be better and more beneficial to completey De-cat.

I understand it wont pass an MOT with no cat fitted but would it be more beneficial and release more power?

Also if i then got it remapped with the De-cat and then put the CAT back on for the MOT would it run like a bag of poop.

Basically ive been looking at the supersprint 3" DP and decat pipe all in one and then the cat back supersprint system.

Advice appreciated guys :funk:

De-cats are a pain in the ass.

Dont bother...u always think, ahhh its only putting a cat back on for MOT..but when it comes time to do it..its a pain.

Have a sport cat and be done with it...Your not gonna loose/gain much anyway from a cat.

Not really...leon exhausts flow really well...money would probably be better spent elsewhere.

On my car, i had a downpipe, sport cat, and full mandrel bent system...and there wasnt much difference with all that...so i would save the money or..just buy a sport cat.

so if i just get a cat back sytem and just get it remapped, would i end up with the same figures as i would if it had a racecat?

U might gain 2-3 bhp from a de-cat...and maybe 1-2 with a sport cat..i dont think it would be much though...Ur probably just better off getting a tidy filter and a remap.

I n my past experience of having a lcr i put a decat on and got an extra 13 bhp and yes that was rr'd on the same day.
Now got a focus rs and decat has given that an extra 22bhp if you see the cat on that you understand why its basically a 90 degree bend off down under the engine from manifold.

I dont beleive you to be honest...Im running a down pipe...200cpi sport cat...and a full mandrel bent stainless system.

And couldnt really notice much extra pull. Id say it gained around 12 bhp for the whole thing. Plus..if a full stage 2 on a LC only makes around 232bhp..can you seriously expect to tell me that nearly 20bhp comes from a short peice of pipe...and you only gain 30 bhp from a remap, 4 bar fpr and a FMIC and filter....Unlikely.

Where was the car rolling roaded.

Trust in me when i tell you that a remap will make the car go alot quicker than a de-cat.

and his rollers are **** on well i trust em if thats where prospeed take their rally cars to be set up.
