maybe t- cut, then after you have buffed it off go back over it with your normal choice of polish

Thats not such a great plan

Tcut is an abrasive, and as such WILL get rid of the marks, however you don't want to then go over it with a choice of your POLISH. Polishes are ALSO abrasive, you want to go over it with a wax to put some protection back on the tcutted paint.

I use turtle wax's "wax it wet" (I think that's what you mean), every time I was the car, but then every two weeks or so I will also go over the car with a proper wax (I use either meguires NXT tech wax, or meguires gold class liquid wax), to bring the full shine back up :)

EDIT: See my thread on the overclockers-uk forum for how my paintwork came up today after a full wash, polish and wax:

Well for a start, I used the "two bucket" wash method, combined with a deep-pile (lambs wool) washing mit. Washing with one bucket and a sponge can lead to lots of swirl marks (sponges move dirt rather than pick it up!), and the second bucket is literally clean water for rinsing the wash mit before re-soaping up.

Drying is best done with a water blade (think squigee!), and then some kind of microfibre towel (chamois leathers also scratch).

As for the polishing and waxing and clear coating, you will want 6 soft terry cotton cloths for that. One for applying each of the products, and one for removing each. Apply the polish in random figures of 8 (this is to try and avoid regular swirl marks), using some, but not too much force against the paint work (this helps to remove stubborn marks like tar). Leave it to dry for 5-10 mins, then go around with a clean cloth and wipe off. Do the same for the wax, then the same for the clear coat high-gloss.

:)

EDIT: The clay bar is a meguires product, consists of a lump of soft clay, and a "detailing spray". The clay bar is a sure fire way of removing any marks like tar or bugs that are stick to the car, that even the most intensive rubbing doesn't remove! Spray a fine mist of detailing spray on the paint (stops the clay sticking to it), and then rub over the bar! The clay picks all dirt that is in pits of the paint up, and you are left with paintwork that is like glass!

white spirit, trust me, will shift it, just apply a little polish after.

used it loads times, works everytime, and leaves the area perfect
