basically, when i switch the switch round for sidelights/headlights, the main headlights themselves (or sidelights) come on fine as normal, but my instument lights dont always come on.

sometimes i have to flick the switch on and off a few times for it to "register" and for my dash lights to actually light my clocks up etc, and show the little light simbol.

i found today though, i can make my dashboard lights come on first time, if i really wack the switch on hard. due to this, it made me wounder if something behind the switch is sticking?

failing that, has anyone else had this problem and know the solution?

P.S MOT time is approaching

Sounds like a knackered switch to me. They don't last forever. Might be worth checking that the plug in the back of the switch is not a bit loose tho. Also the multiway connectors on the back of the clock pod...

Had the same with the dashlight for the headlights. Just changed the main bulb for my rev counter, and while I was at it re-mounted the headlight dash bulb. Seems to have done the trick, the contacts get a bit worn / bulbs dislodge or move slightly, they're quite sensitive. Sometimes I'd be driving along, and notice the headlight dash bulb suddenly kick into life, having not noticed it hadn't been lit. Sorted now.
