My wonderful Toledo V5 has started to make a clicking/grinding/clunking noise from the drivers side (its done 99050miles 4000 in two months lol). It happens with the clutch depressed or not depressed and only when no throttle is applied and no brakes are on i.e coasting in a straight line and round slight left hand corners.

Im assuming it is the Cv joints on the drivers side shaft. Is it possible to replace the cv joints individually or do i have to get a new shaft??

how easy is it to replace?
(on my Ax it is a 20 minute job and about £20 for a decent driveshaft)

finally where can i get the parts (cv joints) ive looked on GSF to no joy and ebay the same.
Are they the same from Golf V5 to Toledo V5??

thanks for any help
Tim

Not entirely sure it's what you're after, but I've just been on vwspares.co.uk and noticed that they have CV joint boots for £7.25? It's in their "transmission" section.

Hope this of some help!
Cheers,
Dave

gulp!! several hundreds then i'd imagine, might see if i can find a second hand shaft then!!! the cv joints ive seen are around £25-30 so its worth trying that first i guess. If the price of a recon one is astronomical then i'll have to get second hand as the car only cost me £1800 lol
