cutting out :(

hi there ive recently just got a gti 8v, and im happy with it... most of the times , every now and again it cuts out when u dip the clutch, like at trafficlights for example. it doesnt happen regulary but just annoying, any ideas on wat could be causeing this??

do your revs drop at the same time? if so could be your throttle body needs cleaning,common issue on these, have a search for throttle body and you'll find a whole world of info that should help you good luck!

yeh the revvs do drop, cheers will look into that

no probs, quick clean out and blast with carb cleaner and hopefully you'll have her running like a dream once more...get some piccies up of her

yeah BT said it right, carb cleaner from halfrauds/motor factors and take off the rubber tube thing going from throttle body to airbox, then start car, have someone sit in car and press accelerator, and spray it in, you will see some/alot of black smoke from the exhaust as you are cleaning it out!

does nobody here ever just open the throttle when your under the bonnet?
