Renaultsport Mégane vs Seat Leon Cupra | evo TRA…: http://youtu.be/QtelVhTYHjI

Given that I nearly bought the Renault before changing my mind and getting a cupra I watched this with interest! Looks like it confirms my belief that the Renault might be a bit more fun on a track but probably going to feel like hard work on the road after a while.

Got to say that the lap on the seat looks like it should have been a lot faster, terrible lines and seemed to be breaking past the apex a couple of times!

Indeed, much tighter lines in the Megane, using more kerb. I'll bet the Renault had better tyres than the Bridgestones on the Cupra, too.

A manual SC would've been a fairer test, though, slightly lighter and no DSG.

Great car, the Megane. But I know which one I would prefer to live with day to day.

EVO love the megane though so I think personally and in my opinion they were never going to let the Cupra beat it.. but just proves how good the standard MK3 Cupra is...

The MK2 Cupra compared to equivalent Megane was alot worse

Personally felt that the guy wasn't a very good track driver, his "quick" lap in the Cupra was pretty poor, the Megane lap was certainly cleaner, I think a better driver would have made the two times a lot closer than 0.7 of a second.

evo only gave the Cupra third place in their recent hot hatch article with the Megane beating it. They'd look a little daft if the SEAT then beat it around the track.

Autoexpress benchmarked the Cupra and it was a second faster than the megane.

Im sure people on the renaultsport forum will be loving this, I to have had a 226 and the R26 and they were excellent at handeling but my got they was problematic, they used to have that many in for warranty I used to have to said around 4 weeks for an appointment. Every sport I had all had the dash and engine taken out because of issues. I don't think I would ever go back.

There was one lad who had a R26 and he had nearly every part changed under warranty, he was in a long dispute about getting the car rejected but I'm not sure what the out come was.

Needless to say my issues and his issues made me leave the brand.

The comments on here are on par with the comments on the R forums when the Cupra beat the golf R around the track.
In every day driving means nothing.
Still would rather have a golf R than new Cupra for everday driving but I would also have a new Cupra over a Megane !
