I would imagine a 5W-40 505.01 oil will do (same as the vRS), although does your car have a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), if so you should use a 5W-30 507.00 oil. I'm sure there are many thread about oil in this section (or in the TDI one).

I believe VAG now recommends 507.00 oils for cars with more than 150 BHP and/or with DPFs.

You need VW 506.01 which has been replaced by 507.00 - Castrol Edge seems to be the brand most outlets sell (halfrauds etc)

You will be fine topping up using your old vrs oil as long as you are doing a service in the next few months.

On a side note, National Tyres do an oil and filter change for the Cupra TDi for £33.60 using Castrol Edge 507.00. This price is cheaper than I can buy the oil so I take my car there now.

I had a look in Halfords the other day actually, the ones they do for our car (Cupra TDi) are their own brand 5L 5w30 for £42.99 (+ free £20 screwdriver set) the Mobil 1 ESP for £49.99 for 5L and Castrol Edge for £45 for 4L

To be fair, Halfords oil will probably be Castrol made anyway!

As much as we slate Halfords, at least they are relatively helpful, I tried GSF and was simply asking for a price on the oil he had behind him (Fuchs) it was the right one and he kept contesting me, saying it wasn't for my car, looking in books etc, when I knew for a fact it was the right one, but in the end I left, so I won't be using GSF and their friendly services again! (And an Audi dealer trying to sell me the wrong Quantum oil as well!)
