I never did it to mine but have heard good reports from people who did it.

It will fit behind the wheels no problems as Derv & Petrol have the same wheels.

unclefester did it to his oil-burner. but he has a nasty habit of warping discs!

Cheap enough that and yes, a big improvement however if you're hard on the brakes and you fit EBC red pads you WILL warp discs so go for DS2500 pads.

dont need the calipers, only the carriers are different. My cupra had 280mm fronts for some odd reason!

OE caliper on a 288 standard carrier means 288mm discs. Put the larger carrier on with the same caliper and you're able to run 312mm discs. Only thing you technically need are discs and carriers - fitting new pads at the same time is a good idea though.
