Just want to know if anybody has attempted to fit a Cupra R steering rack on a Cupra as my current rack is knackered and i've found a Cupra R rack.
Now there is not much info about this but from wot i have found it seems the the only difference between the 2 is the gearing so i'm hoping that it will just slot in and i'll have a faster rack maybe.......
Would apreciate your help and comments

I`ve always wondered at the real truth! - if the`R` gearing was indeed different from the standard Cupra or whether it was just a case of the travel on the `R` rack being limited due to clearance problems:confused:

hell
have you tried euro car parts?
i always understood that the R rack was quicker & therefore heavier.
whether heavier = more feel is a totally separate question.
cheers.

Turning circle on the R is deffo limited you don't get much on full lock.i would imagine it would fit the cupra though

It is quicker that standard. They are the same rack as TT rack. I know Gary Handa fitted a TT rack to his MkIV Golf.

I prefer the quicker rack, and steering feel isn't greatly reduced (they're no Elise to start with:) ).

If you want to know about a limited rack, try driving a 306 Gti6! The worst tuning circle of any frontwheel drive car that I have ever driven due to the gearbox casing poking through the inner wing.

Off topic, have to agree about the 306 rack, it used to take me 2 attempts to get into a parking space. The overall steering feel was excellent on the road IMO
