Cupra R sound like a DIESEL at idle

Hi all

Can any of you reckon this? Does your Cupra R sounds like a diesel at IDLE?
I'm tired of my girlfriend that keeps telling me "It sounds like a diesel", so now I want to know if thats normal?

As above mine only sounds rough on initial startup. First 5 seconds max then settles down.

The secondary Air Pump is quite noisey. My LC is a bit like that, especially when its particularly cold.

My mate has an A3 that has the same noise.

I don't think is serious, and the noise is definitely common. Although, if yours is excessively noisey. I'd reccoment getting it checkedm incase its gone or going!

dont they have hydraulic valve adjusters it could be that they are the last in line while the oil pressure builds up from a cold start..... acouple of my old cars had these and from a cold start you could hear a light clanking noise for a couple of secs until oil pressure built up at the top of the engine... was alwasy okay after the engine had been started and run for a few minutes only seemed to happen when the car had been standing for some time like overnight ...just a thought now i have an excuse mine is a diesel (its smokey)

Hmm...sounds like a "normal" problem, but I think I will tell seat to solve it at next service... if they are able to solve it!

yeah, unless a tdi your car should not sound like that at idle certainly not at normal operating temperature. My Mk3 Golf GTI used to sound a little like that all the time at idle, turns out the timing belt was a little slack and slapping the casing, got it changed and all was well. Do get it looked at mate!

It's a trait of the VAG 1.8T engine...my old Mk4 Golf was particaularly prone to this.

The LC isn't so bad...especially with the new BF zorst
