Cupra R mirrors

Bought a set of cupra r wing mirrors but they are semi automatic (ie, electric to adjust and heated but not folding in) Now my question is, would it be possible to take apart my standard wing mirrors and place the motor into the cupra r casing? Has anyone done this? Pics?

Your help would be much appreciated!!

Really? I personally haven't heard of any LCR wing mirrors that don't fold in. My LC had the older (squarer) wing mirrors which were on the earlier LCRs too, and those folded.

I'm probably wrong tho!

wow - how weird! I'd have thought that they would have kept the features from the older mirrors, unless I was one of the lucky ones :)

So would I be right in assuming that if you've got a car without the folding mirrors, you'd need to add cabling/wiring to suit, and possibly swap out the switch on the door?

Yep, my tdi has folding mirrors, however my new teardrops dont...and they came off a cupra tdi...Need to pull them apart now and look at the internals...There was me thinking that i got them at a bargain!! £60 for the pair...Now i know why!

Right, after some taking apart and breaking a couple of clips on the mirror casing:whistle:, i have come to the conclusion that the Cupra r teardrop mirrors use the same base as the standard leon mirrors, therefore, if you unscrew the mirror part casing(4 t20 torx), the whole lot separates. I will 100% confirm this when the ole man gets home with my car!!

So in theory, all you guys with pre facelift leon cupra's.....all may not be lost!! Im pretty sure that all you will need to do is buy the casing (front and rear) as well as the mirror glass and it should screw up to your standard mirror baseplate housing...

I will keep you informed!

Standard leon you mean pre-facelift? If so yes you can add Tear-drops to an earlier Leon like mine, they just plug in.
If you get electric folding tear-drops they fit a pre-facelift Leon too, plug and play.

But my teardrops are manual folding whereas the standard mirrors on my tdi are electric folding.....now if my calculations are correct, i should be able to remove the standard casinbg and refit the teardrop casing, thus keep the electric folding element....i hope:think:

What i would like to know is will the motors from the pre-facelift folding mirror fit into a teardrop facelift non folding mirror thus making it electric folding.
