Hmm interesting... this is what I was thinking phil3012 ... someone would expect to see the recaro sign somewhere on the seat. If what MitraShark says is true, I would prefer to have a recaro sign on the seats as this ads up to the overall image/value of the car in contrast to plain (no-name) cupra seats that could be anyone's, no matter how sporty or good they are.

The seats in the FR/sport are the same (expcept cloth type) as ones recaro make (which are also in a vauxhall i think)

I thought they were Seat's own...also another interesting bit of info, you can't buy the seats whole, they're made up of many parts/part numbers. I tried to get a pair and they were itemised down individual screws! I calculated it and it is a very expensive alternative compared to aftermarket seats!

I cannot find similarities. I don't believe they are Recaros. I believe they (SEAT) had to keep cost down thats why they chose to make their own bucket seats. To be honest they look cheap when they are placed side by side but we can't have all I guess.

Link to the Cupra seats doesn't work mate.

Are recaros optional on the R32 like they are on the GTi?

Looking on the net I suspect that Cupra R seats were Recaro but those are the only ones.

I'm sure I read somewhere a while back they were the same as the RS4? SEAT put a press release out that went into quite a lot of detail about the seats in terms of strength, ergonomics, different degrees of softness depending on each area on the seat etc. It all sounded quite clever stuff.

Either way I think they are great, one of the many highlights of the car.

Yes the Cupra R's standard seats were Seat's own and were the same as fitted in the MK1 Cupra / FR - just retrimmed. Of course there was a proper Recaro option for the R as well.

IIRC the R32 did not have Recaros at least the MK4 didn't. I believe it is another make, Konig, but is often said they are Recaro when they are not. I think people see the R in the centre of the back rest and assume.
