I know the main talking point of the cupra has been the looks and i'm not yet decided whether I like it myself yet.

If this has been mentioned already, then please ignore it but think back to 2000 when the mark 1 Leon Cupra/Sport came out. In any other colour but yellow it was identical to any other leon in the range (exterior) except for alloys that were upgraded by 1 inch and a different exhaust and harder suspension.

Compare this with the current cupra/FR and the differences are the same, wheels, exhaust and suspension.

As we know, in 2003 there were changes made which (in my opinion) vastly improved the look of the cupra/FR. Maybe SEAT are taking it easy right now and after all the hype has died down a bit they will introduce a much more aggressive body kit and alloy pack for the Cupra/FR.

I think it's more likely they'll release another range-topper later on. Different alloys and kit. Maybe a few extra horses. Probably to celebrate success in BTCC etc. "Seat Leon Cupra BTCC" anyone?

Failing that they'll not bother and wait for Leon Mk 3, which will hopefully look different to Toledo / Altea.

I see where you're coming from - but remember the Cupra is a replacement for the LCR this time round - so whilst the FR can get away with looking much like the rest of the range (which fits with your analogy) the Cupra can't (and shouldn't) especially with a rather hefty pricetag expected. SEAT are supposed to be sporty aren't they?

Their new (I think) design director has basically acknowledged their mistake in styling too many cars alike this time round. I guess it's not _just_ a SEAT thing - VW do it with the polo and golf and you could argue it's all about corporate 'image' etc but the sheer proliferation of the same lines within the SEAT lineup is a bit of a turnoff.

I'm gonna risk waiting for an update, in 2000, the original cupra (180) was the absolute top of the range and for 15 grand it looked almost identical to standard. They will sort it out eventually and thats when i'll look at buying one.

Have faith.......

.......and patience.
