Hi Everyone,

I sometimes hear a kind of scraping noise(and at the same time also feel slight vibration) when I slow down after a 30~40 min performance drive and make maneuvering, ex. at a petrol station. Although I am not sure, I think it is coming from the front side, maybe the brake system(brembo). I hardly catched a case and record the sound (@ 3rd second of the record below)

Has anyone experienced such a noise ?

Thanks in advance..

Note : I am using the car for 10 months, but this situation has started 2 months ago, maybe the high seasonal temperatures is also an effecting factor

Hi iskoc,
If this is what you are experiencing (https://www.seatcupra.net/forums/threads/please-help-cupra-300-discs-fail-problem.447324/) then, most probably, you have warped front rotors. The Brembo brake system for our cars (and Audi TTRS) comes with SHW rotors. If you do a search you will find quite a bit of complaints about the set up. I for one had the same problem. After a year's of back and forth with the dealship I ended up replacing the SHW rotors with DBA ones - 52842SLVS / 5000 series - with Hawk pads - HB806B.624 -. Problem solved.

Hi AntoniosL,

Thank you very much really.

The problem addressed in the link you have provided is just the same problem I face, the noise and the case it happens is just the same.

So what I will do is :

1-) Pay attention and take care when coming to a stop after heavily used braking.
2-) When it is time to change disc/pad pair I will try to obtain the ones you have recommended above.

Thansk again.

As I have lost my faith in the dealer/service guys, today I have gone to a tuner's shop and requested a performance brake system control and cleaning.

They have seen that the brake pads have been so much worn that the iron(I assume) bonding pins can be easily seen, we have replaced the pads with new ones, ı will be watching closely.

I have attached the picture of one worn pad (all of the four pads were the same in condition) and two cases of scraping noise.

iskoc, your pads are not that much worn out. By looking at the picture, it seems they still had some 40% remaining thickness. I'm almost sure you did not receive a warning light from the pads warning sensor; at least this was the case with me.
Yes, the bonding pins on the OEM pads (Pagid) do tend to contribute to the damage on the SHW rotors. Please have a look at the following channel in German (I used auto translate in English but the job of understanding what the guy is saying is done fairly well - he has done extensive research on our issue which was his issue also) www.youtube.com/@carisma2021 . I did use Zimmerman & ATE pads on my second set of SHW rotors (after the dealership replaced the original ones at no cost to me - I should give them the credit here) in an attempt to extend their life since both ATE & Zimmerman pads do not have bonding pins but in vain; rotors got warped again but not as much as the original ones with the Pagid pads. I was tempted to buy the Zimmerman rotors but then decided to go with DBA as Zimmerman are not a true 2 piece rotor design. Have to say though that I have heard good comments about Zimmerman rotors for our car's brake set up. So, there are a couple of solutions at a decent price but of course one can go wild with other much more expensive alternatives. To cut the story short, I decided to stop the bleeding by way of replacing rotors and pads as I mentioned in my original post above. No more lost time going back and forth to the dealer again and again and again .... no more buying and fitting costs trying out different pads makes. I have done 10,000 km after the rotors and pads replacement and I can say I enjoy superior braking with no noises drama at low or high speeds, or twisty downhill continuous hard braking.

Yes I did not receive warning from the pads.

We changed the pads with Ferodo DS2500.

Two days now, around 250 km, no noise.
