CUPRA colours + Paint Quality

Hi,
I'm thinking of changing my 64 plate Ibiza Cupra for a Leon Cupra 290 - My wife drives an Alor Blue Leon Mk3 (1.4tsi), which I love - however it doesn't have the performance I'm used to.

When it comes down to colour for the new Leon, there isn't much to choose from - My Ibiza is Dynamic Grey, and of course i can't bring myself to have the same as the wife (as much as i would love too), so that doesn't leave many colours left to choose.

I absolutely love Dynamic Grey, very tempted to go for it again. However, the slightest of scratches or swirls appear quite dark, which will be down to the dynamic nature of this paint. Ive also found the paint quite susceptible to stain, requiring stubborn cleaning to get back to factory fresh (compared to the Leon that is - both cars have been sealed by myself, same products, same time).

The list of colours to choose from is slim at best, now I've just removed my 2 favourite colours - and i personally prefer a colour, not monochrome. I usually avoid silver (but never seen ice silver in the flesh) - black looses all those lovely lines IMO, white can look abit company car like (not seen a nevada white though), and I've always stayed away from red's as historically they would fade terribly (not sure if this is an issue these days?)

Ive already seen a few threads on paint quality, and wondered if there was any specific colours that suffer more than others from the dreaded stone chips. You have a car, drive it, it gets chipped - a fact of life; however our Alor Blue has its fair share of chips - which despite the touch ins not looking great, i still do it so that the bodywork does not rust.

So, can anyone comment on paint quality, maybe post a pic of your CUPRA at its best so i can try to make a decision on this!

Here's my Nevada white Cupra 280:

A few stone chips on the bonnet near the grill, nothing unusual. Paint quality is fine.

I've found the red can often be overlooked, I went for it as I was limited on choice and I'm glad I did, stunning colour in the sun and looks great with black accents. Can be a tad dull when it's overcast though, guess that's the tradeoff.

(Not a Cupra, but still looks good)

Really pleased with dynamic grey, had loads of people compliment the colour. I can't comment on how hardy it is, only two months in! Unfortunately I can't upload a picture at the moment for some reason

Excellent choice, it's always a conversation starter with anyone that sees mine in the flesh. I'd say it looks it's best on a slightly overcast bright day.

In terms of paint hardness, only had to deal with one stone chip on the bonet, that didn't take long with a ChipEx kit.

Well I've got the red and done 22k and have lots of small chips, mostly on the bonnet and a couple on the roof. I would say the paint quality is shocking it is sooo thin. Never had this on any of my other cars.
Seems another couple appear every month. Perhaps it's only the no extra charge colour is affected

I was quite surprised when I was touching up the stone chip just how deep the paint is. Maybe its the way the Dynamic Grey is applied? Could be layered?

I had my red car film build checked and it's about average to the market segment. Nothing that worried me.

Red is also one of the most expensive colours to produce/buy for a manufacturer. Typically 5 times more than metallic black. The free thing is reverse psychology with the customer and demand.

Nevada white or dynamic grey for me no brainer. I ended up with Nevada white as I bought an ex dealer demo. With the multi spoke alloys it just pops when clean ��

I've ordered dynamic grey. Is it really that bad for showing swirls, scratches and staining? If so I might have to change. I'm not really into washing cars, I tend to only wash the car maybe twice a year.

Did you do the mirrors, roof and grill gloss black or Matte black?

Paint quality is OK, not great. It also seems to chip quite easily, and unfortunately the undercoat is white which shows every chip. Dark undercoat ala my Toyota would have been more useful.
I'm glad I paid for front protection film.
