Please don't all shoot me down for asking this but...
The Cupra and Bocs (FR's don't) all have a sound generator to make them sound more aggresive when accelerating hard. I believe this is an electronic unit in the engine bay close to the bulkhead on the drivers side.
Does anyone (techie) know if this has its own fuse, or if you could splice a switch into the wiring so that you could choose between 'peace and serenity' or 'wayhey!!!'.

Yeah its called your right foot :) Mine is perfectly quite when driving normally, its only when you drive hard it gets loud and you don’t really want to hear the little 1.4 straining away without a little extra base..

This is interesting.
I looked at the schematics and it seems just to be some sort of speaker(?)
So it does not change the engine behaviour in any way?

If you want to turn it off, just plug the 12-pin connector from the "structure-borne sound" control unit.

It uses fuse number 2 in the holder C, but if you pull that one you will also loose:

E16 - Heater/heat output switch
G65 - High-pressure sender
J255 - Climatronic control unit
J285-Control unit with display in dash panel insert
J293 - Radiator fan control unit
J301 - Air conditioning system control unit
R94 - Navigation system interface
Y7 - Automatic anti-dazzle interior mirror

:D

You could but I doubt you could here it over the engine anyway

i agree i quite like the stripes on a fiesta but my old car was a 1.6 TCDI fiesta and it sounded pretty decent when you had you foot nailed to the floor.......still nothing compared to the bliss that is the cupra noise ;)

and i dont think its chavy, you cant get you head up our exhausts and it still sounds looks and out performs the chav next to you with the exhaust so big it got its own moon! :bleh:
its subtle and genius
