Hi all!

Newbie on this, I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on lead times with the Cupra 300. Got a fantastic deal on the Cupra 300 DSG so placed my order for contract hire 2 days ago, now being told delivery times are between 24-26 weeks! Has anybody had luck getting it before this or is this a realistic timescale??

Off subject but how much do you all pay for insurance?? Only Admiral (and co) will touch me for £1,700 :(

Thanks

Just regarding ur insurance. I have just swapped my FR 150. for a DSG Cupra. My insurance went up £70 from £510. I was really surprised that it was only a small jump. That's including the service fee. It is with Admiral also. I'm 31 with 3 years no claims. Hope this helps. Although I did notice that it jumped up drastically if I had other drivers on the policy.

Hope this helps.

Thats very cheap! 23 with 1 crash but only 3 years named driver NCB unfortunately, Directline wouldnt even touch me! Admiral seem to be the only viable company for young drivers with Cupras!

It's true. I always found Admiral the cheapest, been with them since I started driving. Have a look at thier multi car policy see if u can get anyone in the family to move over with u.
I do think that they just make up the figures off the tip of their heads.

Surely you would have done some research for insurance first before putting an order in for a 300bhp car? 1700 quid a month? Jesus. Because you're still under 25 you're insurance will be sky high.

Make sure you tick the box saying the 300 has Front Assist / Pedestrian Safety as standard.

OP; at 23 years old, you’re considered to be a young driver for car insurance, and the combination of a young driver with one accident driving a hot hatch performance car means you won’t be a preferred customer for the majority of insurance companies, especially if there are other factors relevant to you that could make you an unattractive risk (there may not be) - e.g. high risk postcode district, high risk occupation, any motoring convictions.

The premium calculation algorithms that have been developed by insurers are so complex these days and use a multitude of risk factors to calculate the premium. Comparing the premium you’ve been quoted by Admiral wth other forum members’ premiums will almost certainly not be on a like for like basis with your specific situation, because of the many variables involved (excess levels, postcode, age, number of years no claims, whether or not other drivers on the policy and their driving/claims record, use of the vehicle, marital status, occupation, and the list goes on...........).

Many people will automatically think of comparison sites and the direct insurers when they get an insurance quote, but often forget the insurance broker. Many brokers will have access to specialist insurers or insurance scheme arrangements that may be more prepared to take on younger drivers. So next time, it’d be worth considering getting an insurance broker to do the leg work for you (if you didn’t this time), and they may find you a more competitive premium.

Ahh I get you, cheers for the information! Do you know any good insurance brokers? Always used comparison websites but £1,700 is cheapest I have seen for my circumstances.

You could try Chris Knott (http://www.chrisknott.co.uk/car_insurance.html) and Adrian Flux (https://www.adrianflux.co.uk/) who are forum sponsors. A quick Google also turned up this one that might be worth a try;

https://www.4youngdrivers.co.uk/insurance/sports-car-insurance-for-young-drivers.htm

I don’t have personal experience of any of these so can’t say if they’ll be likely to find you a more competitive price than the £1,700 quote you’ve got from Admiral. However, it’s got to be worth a phonecall

just as a add to this.
I have a cupra 300 24 yrs old and I paid 334yr, this is in north Yorkshire. cannot believe how the price fluctuates around the country. disgusting. worst part is you still need to get gap cover to insure the over priced insurance to protect yourself from them anyway. rip of Britain.

Nice. Good choice. Mine is mystery blue. Looks so nice in the metal. Pictures don't do it justice. Looks amazing in the sun like we're having at the min.

I'd add green light insurance and brentacre to the brokers. Brentacre are my current insurer/broker and have been for some time due to how good their pricing is and also price matching when otherwise. Plus the options they include are very good. Added bonus they are a family run company from Swansea so seem to give a monkeys.
