Hi guys,

Looking at buying a Leon cupra 300 estate and i have 2 questions im unsure of i was hoping someone might be able to answer.

1. Do all Cupra 300 estates with dsg have haldex awd ? (Car im looking at buying has no 4drive badge on the boot)

2. Does the Cupra 300 estate have the e-diff in the front or the mechanical diff the fwd hatch has ?

Thanks alot guys

It depends when it was made. I had a 2018 Cupra 300 which was FWD but not long after that they decided to only make AWD ones. My car had a Haldex unit although it was only a FWD car. Works spectacularly well. Even on soaking roads there is no spin, it just goes.

Seconded ☝🏼 I’d grab a 4WD if you can afford and need it. 4WD is more expensive, I believe, than the FWD. Possibly more costs in maintaining the full Haldex as opposed to the front Haldex only? And less boot space with 4WD? Try both. You may find the FWD is more than capable for everyday conditions 👌🏼

I've never driven the awd but I can't imagine it being much faster than the fwd. It's not a slow car and in most situations I can only imagine that all the extra tech does is add weight and increase fuel consumption.

On autotrader there is 1x Leon Cupra 300 ST manual with FWD. The rest are AWD.

Sure way is to look under the rear to check for a rear diff!

If its AWD it won't also have the front e-diff (VAQ in VW speak)

According to Parkers Guide, all Cupra 300 ST's built from 2014 have 4wheel drive as standard.

https://www.parkers.co.uk/seat/leon/st-2014/cupra-300-20-tsi-300ps-dsg-auto-(072018-on)-5d/specs/

Only the latest 2024 model year Cupra 300 ST's have the Haldex e-diff on the front axle, which can now torque vector across the front axle and transfer all power to the rear axle in "drift" mode like Golf R's have been able to do since 2021.
I believe the latest 333 Cupra Leon uses a rear "torque splitter technology" diff which is a rear locking diff - not the front.

Parkers is wrong. For a start the 300 wasn't released until 2017 and AWD was not standard until 2018, I think it was. I know there were FWD ones available in 2018 because I owned one!
