Cup holder LCR

We are all agreed it's damn near useless (right, Scotty?! - I remember your story of the condensation!).

So has anyone taken it out and replaced it with a gague of some sort? I'd love an oil pressure / oil temperate one in there....

Anyone have any pictus, or ideas how it's done?

I think Feel was experimenting with an LCD read out in there but last time i looked it was on his dash?

Another option maybe the golf mk1 gauges turned on there side? AS there designed to go in the blanking plates?

I was thinking blanking plate with a normal gauge in there? How difficult would that be?

Erm pass not had my one out. But there should be enough room there, although you would need to chop around the holder location as well

It is possible, but get a spare centre console to chop up....

the space behind that console is big enough to get a 52mm gauge i guess....
The only problem is the face framing the climate controls and radio, needs to be removable to gain access to the screws that fix the centre console in... so you need to modify the frame and the centre console... quite a big job... i know I'm doing it...
but I'm making it really hard for myself I'm fitting a Defi 60mm gauge in there, not the meation theres not enough space in there for it... but hey i like the Defi guage better then anyelse... so as they say "When theres a will theres a way!"

Havent found much of a use for it i can agree, apart from my phone fits in there nicely...

A credit card holder like teh beezer would be far better!

Defi gauge in there sounds good but what about the viewing angle?

Well there is going to be extensive work on the dash and interior, the gauge is actually going to be moulded into the dash using fibre glass... so it can go to what ever angle i deem fit, so it will have an angle towards the driver for viewing, i will post up oics once its all done and finished! Should be soon i hope... need to have the car ready for the shows...

when i had the LCR, i always thought it would make an ace ipod holder - its near the HU/cd changer, stealthy, and wouldnt (i dont think) be too hard to fabricate..

no piccies tho, as the car got nicked before i got round to doing it
