Creaking dashboard

I am suffering from a few annoying creaks (main one seems to be from passenger side above glovebox) on my Altea dashboard, which is spoliling my enjoyment of an otherwise fine car. Only seem to have appeared after instrument cluster was replaced (unnecessarily...but that's another story). Is this a common problem with Alteas? Anyone else having annoying rattles/creaks from dashboard?

I also have a creak/rattle in exactly the same place, passenger side above the glovebox. Sounds like something under the dash isn't quite secure. Sorry, but haven't investigated it yet.:(

It's been noted tha Alteas which don't creak, creak on cold mornings, mine does and yes a few people have creaks from dashes all the time, mine is fine :).

BTW you can induce a sound by having stuff in the glove box so it it's coming from that area worth taking everything out of the glove box.

Me too! My Sport TDI Altea creaks even more than me, hot or cold! Removing items from the glovebox makes no difference. I have now noticed a squeak from the rear of the car too. The dealer has had a couple of goes at sorting them at service time but they always come back worse... To be honest I'm not impressed for a circa £17k car, and the Cordoba before it was far better built (and that was rubbish compared to many 'bog standard' cars). From what I have seen a lot of people stepping out of old Leons into the new Leon and Altea are turned off by the dash quality. It seems that SEAT have taken a downgrade in trim and build quality in with their latest generation - perhaps they had got a little too good for VW's comfort...
