Creak Creak Creak

Guys i need to rack your brains. After months of creaking from the rear-end mainly when turning into left or right hand junctions, i thought i'd try and find the cause.

Yesterday the strut top mounts were replaced, the shocks were checked and found to be in very good condition but after inspecting the rear axel bushes i think i may have found the problem :censored:

Am i right in thinking that the part that MAY need replacing is

There appeared to be a slight split in one of the bushes, but because of access, I.e none i cant be 100% certain that this is the problem.

Any thoughts.

Not an expert by any means, but i,ll offer what i have come across

splits in bushes do not nessecerily(sp) mean failure, although they may be responsible. as a contribuatry factor,

is the bush replaceable on its own, or is it a whole arm assy that must be replaced. |I have heard on some similar bushes that are very expensive to replace, you can perform a temp fix by sealing both ends of the bush, and using a silicone gun & tube of silicone, inject silicone sealant into the bush, when it hardens, it should have filled all the cracks and voids, if the squeak goes, then you know you were right

Justa question. This creak is it a slight creak on turning sharp left or right corners, but ONLY when going at very slow speed. If this is so then I have it also. (doesn,t always do it, and the susp on my Tol sport still feels very taught at 90,000) I have no creaks or thumps and bumps at speed even over very bumpy country roads. So I suppose I am really asking, is this upper shock mounts? or those bushes in rear susp. MOT tomorrow, I suppose I,ll find out.....AAARGH, but I,d still like to know what you guys think, please. ( I love this toledo sport, it is the most enjoyable drive I,ve had in ages.)

I replaced the rear strut top mounts a couple of weeks back which has helped, but the creaking sound is still there. In the next couple of weeks my plans are to have the ream beam bushes replaced (via a garage as i don't have a press), and replace the front strut top mounts which should only take me a couple of hours.

In addition to this, the clutch needs doing but i've got a couple of months grace as it's only just strted slipping.

If you need to renew the rear strut top mounts it's worth doing it yourself as it's so eas,y it's just worth paying a garage to do it for you.

I posted a thread on here showing the job of bush replacement that my other half did on my tolly at easter.
http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=83511

he changed the rear axle bushes without a press because it was a bit too bulky to move about but the general impression i got from him was that the rear bushes require a good trashing to get em out, but it is poss without a press.....is expensive to get somewhere to do it......but the benefits WELL outway the effort required to do the job!!!! (hahaha especially as i didnt do it :p ) cheers Steve

didnt have to change the rear strut top mounts.......they didnt look bad on inspection, but changing the other bushes sorted all my knocks and creaks
