I need to replace the crank position sensor on my 2008 2.ol tdi fr. Im just wondering if anyone has done this before? Where exactly is it located, ive read on some posts its near the oil filter bracket but cant seem to see anything remotely similar.

Im fed up chancing the garage to get this sorted so will have a go myself.

Cheers in advance

As you are looking at the oil filter housing it is to the right, its accessed via a small hole in the bellhousing,if you have a close look you will be able to see the connector,i would strongly advise you dont tackle it yourself unless you are confident, they are a bit of a ******* to get at,the oil filter housing has to be removed then a 4 or 5mm allen headed bolt that holds the sensor in place, they can also be tricky to get started when you fit the new one...

cheers

Thanks fusster for your reply.

I had read that in some engines it was easy to get at, your post just proves thats not the case. The garage it is...... Many thanks for your help.
