Crackling speakers

In my LCR 210, I get ocassional periodic crackling of the speakers on both the CD and to a lesser extent the radio. Not always, and more prone in hot weather or after prolonged driving. HU has been checked by Canterbury Car Radio and no fault was found.

Any suggestions? Thoughts so far; issue with the CD autochanger rather than HU (though like I say problematic on radio too), loose speaker connections or possibly a bad earth somewhere?

CCR weren't terribly helpful and I'm £20 down already with them. Any suggestions for other ICE or auto electricians in the East Kent area?

Cheers, David

Firstly, crackling in the electronics says to me there is an electrical connection issue, not a CD transport / lens issue.

It will either be coming from interference from some other electrical source, or from a poor connection in the ICE wiring chain or potentially dry solder.

Questions which may help to resolve:

1) Is it through both speakers or only one?

2) Is it through all sources (CD/Radio)?

3) Does it only happen when the car is moving about, or also when sat stationary / at traffic lights?

4) Does it happen if you listen to the radio with the engine turned off?

5) Do you have any access to another head unit you can borrow to connect so you can discount the head unit?

my headunit does this on cold days in the winter. No sound comes out at first, just bass from the subs, then after some time it starts to crackle and then sound slowly comes through and the crackling goes. very annoying.

Just bought an 04 Leon Cupra TDi 150, the front passenger door speaker either crackles or doesn't work at all. Guessing its a loose connection, is there an easy way to get to the speaker?
