Correct oil level in stick (LCR)

I checked my oil level today after a few weeks of driving since a service at my local Stealer.

It is above the 'hashed' area of the dip stick by about 5 to 10mm ish, is this correct? Not at home to check the service/handbook. Left it over night to settle etc......

That sounds a little over-filled mate, I *think* the max is the top of the hatched area.

Could potentially do some damage to your cat converter. I would check it a few times though as I have seen the oil level in my LCR change (up and down) radically in the space of a few days

Silly question... but you're not parked on a slope are you? Even a tiny gradient can make things look much worse (or better!) than they are when checking the oil level.

if i remember correctly the dipstick has a couple of kinks in it that mark the top and bottom of where the oil level should be. if its a small amount over its not gonna hurt the engine too much but be careful if it is really high.

Also, remember the basics when checking your oil....engine should be cool, been left to sit for some time (so that the oil pools at the bottom of the engine) and (and i cant stress this enough) the car MUST be on a level surface.

If the car is leaning forward at all then the dipstick will overread as its at the front of the engine!!

Hi guys,

No deffinately on a level surface, and I left it over night before I checked it.

I just checked again and it is at least 10mm if not 15mm over the hatched area. I will do it one more time in the morning before I ring the dealer to have a winge...........

I'll keep you posted!

I thought according to erwin SEAT and elsawin the engine should be at operating temperature and let to stand for a couple of minutes before checking.

Which ever way I check it its too much..........12mm above the top kink in the level indicator ('C' position in the owners manual).

It was a dealer service BCM, they are sorting it for me monday.
