Mine do the same and yes they are the cornering lights. Only work up to a certain speed I believe?

Hi Chris

Yes it is cornering lights. Its actually your flog light that comes on when you turn into the corner. Must look bizarre to the car in front as it looks like you have a faulty light which keeps going on and off.

Took me a while to realise it was you behind me the other day (struggling to read your number plate in my rear view mirror).

Catch you in ALDI no doubt at some point.
Nigel.

I would assume so if it gets visibly brighter. It uses the fogs. Have you got facelift or pre facelift?

I never had it activated on my pre facelift but came as standard on my FR.

I've had this on all of my Seats, also comes on VWs and Audis. Every car I have had I always have a comment of one of your fog lights are out. lol.

They also come on when you indicate.

you can disable them with vcds - i did on my Ibiza. The Leon doesn't have them activated as standard

they are a total joke feature IMO. I got fed up explaining to folk how they work after several comments on them eg you've got a bulb out.

Cheers Chris. I was undecided on another FR or a CUPRA, but decided to go for the CUPRA as I don't do many miles now I work from home and wanted a bit of fun on the few occasions I do venture out in the car. Probably start regretting it when the Direct Debit starts to go out my account or it gets nicked.

Only went for silver as it as free! Had no idea what this new Urban Silver would look like till the day it arrived, but I was pleasantly surprised. Still running it in and not really pushed it too much yet to see what it can do, but won't be too long now!

Catch you soon.

I always thought it was 'frowned upon' by the law if you used your fog lights when there's no fog, but when cornering, these come on (even thought just 1)!

I guess it's not too bad, if the lights were same colour has the headlights, but it just looks silly, you have nice LED (or Bi-xenon for Ibiza) headlights, and the minute you turn the wheel, the yellowish lights spoil the 'upmarket' LED / Bi-xenon lights. At least as far as i know the facelifted mk3 has LED fogs? Eg...they are same colour as the LED Headlights? Or all LED equipted Leons have cornering fogs disabled by default?

My former 63 plate Leon had LEDs and no conering lights, my Ibiza with Bi-xenon has them (and I have AFS on my headlights, cornering lights not required). They annoy me, so much so, if I'm stuck at traffic light, at night, i do not turn on my turn signal until I have to, to keep these off at long as possible.

and both front fog lights come on when you select reverse, brilliant idea!

can't see feck all out the back - the direction I want to see - due to having 1 pishy 5w reversing bulb yet I've now got 220w lighting up the neighbours house across the road. Genius. :fool:

Have you thought about changing your standard fog light bulbs ( which should be H8 ) for Led Cree ones.

Did mine and now find they are a good match for the blueish white of my led headlights.

You may find this post helpful ( I certainly did ). http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=421410

This can be turned off with obd or vcds, I've done it on my facelift but not really been out in the dark since to try it. I've also changed the intensity of the reverse light so we shall see if there's any difference there too.

Fogs off in reverse definitely works, just been out, reverse light intensity is definitely questionable.

With OBD11 and VCDS you can change the brightness of the reversing light (although it does not IMO make it better)

Adjusting the intensity of the reverse
With this change we can adjust the light intensity reverse.
1 - Module 09 - Electronic. Code (31347)
2 - Adaptation
3 - Select - Leuchte29RFL RA64
4 - Sub - Dimmwert AB 29
5 - Change the desired value. maximum 127
6 - Select - Leuchte28RFL LC11
7 - Sub - Dimmwert AB 28
8 - Change to the desired value. maximum 127

You can deactivate the fog lights when reversing by reversing how you activate them.

With regards to cornering lights in general (I dont have fogs but the code below shows how to activate) you can change the min and max values to turn them off if there is no other way.

Regulation of lights or turn corner
With this modification you can change the speed at which you want them to act the cornering. By default come to 40 km / h.
1 - Module 09 - Electronic. Code (31347)
2 - Adaptation
3 - Select - static curve light
4 - Sub - Untere geschwindigkeitsschwelle
5 - Change the desired value
6 - Sub - Obere Geschwindigkeitsschwelle
7 - Change value to 60. Default 40 Km / h

^^^^ completely agree. Set both values to max 127 and I can see no difference at all lol. Getting led replacement soon so hopefully that'll make a difference.

I just wanted to confirm, does anyone know, if Cupra has cornering lights available? Seeing as even fogs are LED now..

Cornering fog lights seem to be on my cupra at low speed. Headlights seem to do a lot of auto adjusting at slow speed around town too. New LEDs are incredible compared to my old car.

I got my LED reverse bulb from Ebay. If you search for
P21W Ba15s 1156 382 50w CREE BULB Xenon White 6000k Car REVERSE STOP FOG DRL
you should see one for £8.95. They do a pair of them for £13.99 if you know someone else how'd like one, or keep it as a spare. I've had mine fitted for a few months now and it makes a lot of difference, and haven't had any issues with it.
