Cordoba - OBDII problem

I am a newbie from Sweden and I need your help. I own a Cordoba Vario 98 that has worked very well up until yesterday when it was time to go home from work. It didn't start! Today I went to the freezing cold parking lot to see what the problem is. No spark. I have worked all connectors around the distributor and ignition coil several times. I also checked the ignition coil using an ohm-meter and it seems to be OK. I have not been able to check the Hall sensor but it doesn't seem likely that it would brake while the car was parked. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary yesterday morning - it worked fine. Shouldn't the car start and run for a second or two if it is the immobiliser that is the problem? The fuel pump works!
If I could hook up to the car using OBDII I would probably be able to get some hints about what is causing the no spark problem. About a year ago I built a diagnosing tool from a schematic I found at ScanTool.net but it wouldn't connect to the car computer. A few months ago I tested a store bought tool and that didn't connect either. Has anybody else had problems connecting to the car using OBDII?
I am grateful for any help and suggestions.

Hi,
I'm quite sure, that your car is not OBDII (EOBD) compliant. So you won't be able to use any ELM chip interface and OBDII software.
My Cordoba from 2000 doesn't speak OBDII.
But I'm sure, that you can use a VAG diagnostic software and interface, like VAG-COM, and see the trouble codes.

Thanks guys,
You're right, it isn't OBDII. It is a VAG special and equipment from VAGCOM
will do the trick.
